Amy Cook, 60, passed away November 15, 2020. She was born August 4, 1960 in Akron to the late Marvin and Lou Capps, Jr. After graduating from Stow High School, Amy spent a few years at Ohio Valley College where she had her first experience with independence, and she loved it! She graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor’s in Education with a focus on developmentally disabled children. As a young woman Amy worked at Weaver School and Workshop. She then went on to work in the Cuyahoga Falls School System where many of the students have fond memories of her. When other teachers spent their time punishing “problem students”, Amy welcomed them with open arms and lots of candy.
Amy’s happiest times were her summers off with her children. She made a big effort to always do something fun with them. Most summer days were spent at Crystal Lake but if you didn’t find her there, she was at the zoo, Geauga Lake or SeaWorld. Her children were her whole world.
Besides her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Capps, III. She is survived by her son, Larry Cook; daughters, Carrie (Joseph) Meyer, II and Anna (Doug Knapp) Cook; grandchildren, Joseph, III and Maxwell; brothers, Marshall, Stephan (Kathrine) and Jeff Capps; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
