Shelley Wayne

Shelley Wayne, 52, passed away August 14, 2017.  She was born June 2, 1965 in Youngstown to Gail and Randy W. Wayne. She attended Austintown Fitch where she played clarinet in the Symphonic Band and was a member of the Gun Line in the marching band. She graduated from Youngstown State University with a Master’s degree in chemistry. After graduation, she stayed on as an assistant professor and taught chemistry. She went on to work for the ATF in the forensics lab.

Shelley and Les loved the water: Portage Lakes, the ocean, Florida beaches, the Keys, especially Key West, Clearwater and Daytona for Bike Week.  Her love of dolphins and her dogs, Dempsey, Jax, and Kodah were always in her thoughts.    

Besides her parents Shelley is survived by her soulmate, Les Sommers; brother, Randy D. Wayne; nephews, Randy J. and Ryan Wayne; cousins, Vicki (Burke) and Buddy Brown; Aunt Grace and Uncle Ralph.

Per Shelley’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Ohio Prestwick Country Club, 3751 Glen Eagles Blvd., Uniontown, OH 44685.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at Prestwick (very casual attire).  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shelley’s name to the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
