Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Brother
After an extended fight with a terminal illness, Samuel Eli Jacobs, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
Samuel worked over 30 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company before retiring in 1995. An avid golfer, he spent many of his retirement years working part-time at several golf courses; including Spring Hill, Chenoweth, and Prestwick Country Club. However, what Sam enjoyed most was spending his vacations walleye fishing at Rice Lake in Ontario, Canada with his father-in-law, among many other family members and friends. His love of singing afforded him the privilege of singing the National Anthem for the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers which brought a great sense of pride to not only him but his loved ones and friends.
Samuel and his family will forever be indebted to the Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Akron, Ohio; specifically, for the respect, love, kindness, and generosity shown by the late Father Louis Mahshie, and the entire Mahshie family.
Samuel was born August 13, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, the youngest of two children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Daisy Jacobs. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Sherry; children, Sam (Jess), Wendy, and Ryan (Marla) Jacobs; grandchildren, Corey Schutte, Samantha Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Justin Greenlese, Adrianna Klepper, Jadyn Klepper, and Kila Klepper; great-grandchild, Samuel Enrique Penate; sister, Diana; and his extended family and friends who will always remember his charismatic nature and extreme generosity.
Per Sam’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment took place at East Liberty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Sam’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
