Pastor Michael Ray, 88, went home to be with the Lord December 10, 2018. He was born in Keyser, West Virginia. After high school, Michael proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a 1958 graduate of Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. He went on to serve as Assistant Pastor in Toledo for eight years. He was a Founding Pastor in Sandusky for seven years, as well as Pastor in Akron for 25 years. Michael Ray also served as the editor of Ohio Apostolic News for many years and was the dean of the Ohio District Campground for children, teens and young adults in Buckeye Lake.
Michael was preceded in death by the love of his life of 57 years, wife, Marian J. (nee Stiles), who passed away on January 17, 2010. He is survived by daughter, Sonja Ray; son, Nathan Ray; grandchildren, Heidi, Amber, Michael J. and Madison; sister, Betty Dewitt; brothers, James and Jack Ray; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A very special thank you to the nurses, caregivers, staff, and volunteers at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living Facility. You loved and cared for our father and grandfather right up until the very end and your kindness, devotion, dedication, professionalism, and attention to his needs will never be forgotten. Thank you also to the staff of Harbor Light Hospice for your love and attention to Pastor Ray in his final moments.
