Karen P. (Snider) Newman

Karen Newman, 65, passed away June 20, 2018.  She was born October 1, 1952 in Barberton to Eileen and the late James Snider.  She was a 1971 graduate of Coventry High School, a graduate of the University of Akron, and earned two Master of Education degrees while raising her son as a single mother.  Karen taught second and fourth grade at Revere Local Schools and sixth through eighth at Green Local Schools and together taught for over 35 years.  She was a member of the Coventry School Foundation.     

Besides her mother, Karen is survived by her son, Erik Newman; sister, Kathy (Bill) Borgers; brother, Pat Snider; nephew, William (Sarah Moore) Borgers; niece, Krista Borgers; as well as many friends and former students.   

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Brenda Young officiating.  Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 5 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Lockwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s name to Coventry Schools Foundation for Karen Newman Scholarship Fund, P.O.
