Joseph S. Collier

Joe Collier, 62, passed away peacefully at home of pancreatic cancer on June 24, 2019. Born April 27, 1957, he spent his life in Green, graduating from Green High School in 1975.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Eleanor Collier; niece, Jacquelyn Morrison; and devoted longtime partner, Julie Shaffer. He is survived by a large number of dear friends and relatives, including daughter, Tiffany Shaffer, of whom he was very proud; siblings, Vic (Mary) Collier, Antoinette "Toni" Collier, Thomas (Barbara) Collier and Donna (Dan) Budrow; 15 Bahry, Collier and Morrison nieces and nephews and their extended families, whom he cherished; and girlfriend, Kathy McVey.

Co-owner of H&W Door Company, Joe worked as hard as he played, enjoying all things mechanical, along with boating and water-skiing. Facing a dire diagnosis, he lived his final months with determination and gratitude. He will be remembered for his generosity, his acts of service and his strong work ethic.

Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. on Saturday, June 29, at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. and Saturday from 11:30 A.M. until the service. Interment will be at East Liberty.
