Jim Yuujiro Furukawa

Jim Yuujiro Furukawa, 91, of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away April 27, 2018.  He was born in Hanford, California on September 12, 1926 to the late Oyei (Hashizume) and Kisuke Furukawa.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Terumi Uyesugi; sister, Sally, and brothers, Kiichi and Ben.  He is survived by his sister, Noby Akiba; children, Linda, Chris (Judy), Bruce (Charlotte), Keith, and Gary (Amy) Furukawa; grandchildren, Brian, Kurt, Jacob, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Alexa, Damon, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Riley, Mason, Emilia, Elisha, Raigan, and Daniel.

Memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 14560 Madison Ave., Lakewood, OH 44107 with Rev. Mike Wallace officiating.  Committal with military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Cleveland JACL Scholarship Fund or to Gethsemane Lutheran Church.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
