Marilyn Grof, 79, passed away April 27, 2018 after a long illness. She was born April 22, 1939 in Madison, Ohio to the late William and Eva MacBeth. Marilyn spent summers on the Great Lakes with her father helping “crew” the Ore Boats until she was 15 and then attended Andrews School For Girls. She worked at McNeil Corporation out of high school and married John in 1960. She raised her 3 children and was a homemaker until she became a beloved school bus driver for Copley Local Schools. She retired after 17 years to travel the country with John. She returned to Ohio to spend time with her family in 2008.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, John, and brother, William. She is survived by her sons, John Jr. (Kathy) and Michael Grof; daughter, Shirley (Patrick) Pikus; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319. Inurnment will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio 44273 at 11:15 A.M. Please arrive 20 minutes early to join the family.
