Jack Hawkins

Jack Hawkins, 84, of Coventry Township passed away April 15, 2017.  He was born March 26, 1933 in Three Mile, WV to the late Valentine and Stella Hawkins.  Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Era, retired from Ford Motor Company with 30 years of service and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He always said “I have only met one fisherman better than me -- that was my dad!”

Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine; son, Michael; and 2 sisters.  He is survived by his wife, Pearl; sons, Robert “Zeke” (Kim) Ferguson and Greg Ferguson; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.      

Per Jack’s wishes cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held from 2 to 4 P.M. and 5 to 8 P.M. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Navy military honors will be performed at 5:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 W.
