Henry Muck, Jr., 89, passed away August 25, 2019. He was born November 29, 1929 in Green Township to the late Henry and Katherine Muck who came to the United States from Germany. Henry didn’t learn to speak English until he was in the first grade. Henry proudly served in the U. S. Army as a chef and interpreter and retired from Firestone Racing Division with 30 years of service. Henry loved playing the tenor saxophone and after retirement formed a band. They would play on cruises and in Las Vegas. He loved jamming at the Polish American Club every Wednesday and continued to do so until 2016. Henry was also a DJ with Matt Shaffer’s Polka Show on 88.1 radio station.
Henry loved playing his saxophone, listening to Polka music, watching CNN and his wild Mustang colt and German shepherd.
Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine and brother, Don. He is survived by his second wife, Susan, whom he met while working at Firestone; children, HenryS. (Debbie) Muck and Stephanie (Steven) Diggelmann; step-daughter, Dana (Norman) Brauns; grandchildren, Steven and Laura; as well as other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at East Liberty Cemetery.
