Harold Duane Brown

H. Duane Brown, 79, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2017. Duane was born on October 6, 1937 in Akron, Ohio, to Esther (Reynolds) and Oral D. Brown, and was the oldest of three sons.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and married his childhood sweetheart, and love of his life, Georgiana Parr Brown. They were married for 60 years. Duane was an entrepreneur, starting several successful businesses, and retired from Barrington Carpet in Green, Ohio. He was a loving and devoted father whom his three children looked up to and adored. He was a self-made man, a man of honor and integrity, who put God and family first in his life. He was both the family's compass and their anchor. Duane and his wife lived six months of the year in Florida, and six months in Ohio, where Georgiana lovingly cared for him during his illness.

He is survived by his wife and three children; Tammi Oliver, Cynthia (Gerald) Boswell, and Stephen (Jeanette) Brown; and his faithful furry companion, Bentley. He is also survived by his brother, David R. (Suzanne) Brown. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, who will miss him every single day.

A funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Calvary Apostolic Church, 2693 Nesbitt Ave., Akron, Ohio 44314 with Pastor Nelson Carter officiating.  Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
