Gregory D. Wisor
August 27, 1958 ~ June 24, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years OldGreg Wisor, beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend passed away June 24, 2017 after a valiant battle with leukemia. His heart and mind never gave up the fight. He was born in Akron in 1958, and was a lifelong resident of Green. Greg was a graduate of the University of Akron in Mechanical Engineering and had a successful career for over 30 years at Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems. But his real passion in life was his family and friends.
Greg enjoyed family beach vacations, playing golf, craft beer - especially IPAs, woodworking, his vegetable garden and Akron Zips football tailgate parties. For many half marathon and marathon races, as well as the Akron Marathon relays, Greg was our Curb Crew Captain, getting runners and our cheer squad to points along the race courses. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, rooting for his children throughout their childhood and high school years at St. Vincent-St. Mary. More recently he cheered at Zips football, soccer and basketball games where he would instruct the referees on the proper calls. Greg served in many roles for the Boy Scouts and always enjoyed camping. He served on the board of Green Baseball-Softball Federation and coached his children’s soccer and baseball teams in Green. He enjoyed volunteering at Lenten fish fries at Queen of Heaven.
Greg was preceded in death by mother, Louise and brother, Doug. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susanne; children, Nora and Bryan; father, Chuck; best friends, Lisa and Matt Stuthard; as well as numerous nephews and nieces and many more in-laws, out-laws and friends.
In honor of Greg’s memory, please visit a brewpub and raise a glass or buy a bucket of balls and work on your slice or both.
