Florence R. (Hollenack) Lerew

Florence Lerew, 77, passed away July 26, 2018.  She was born June 4, 1941 in Akron to the late George and Marian Hollenack.  Florence was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She worked for the Tastee Bread Company where she met her future husband Jim. After marriage, they resided in Cuyahoga Falls where she enjoyed being a housewife and raising her five children. Florence was a gifted seamstress and baker. She loved gardening, travel and had a passion for seafood. Above all else, she loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lerew; sisters-in-law, Carol Hollenack and Judy Hollenack and nephew, Gary Lee. She is survived by her son, Todd Lerew; daughters, Kelley (Ed) Lohr, Kristie (Woody) Carl, Julie (Dave) Knittle, Sherry (Mike Goehler) Lerew; grandchildren, Holly (Jamie) Brown, Jake Knittle, Morgayne, and Lu; great-grandchild, Harper; brothers, Jerry (Pam) and Jim (WC Holden) Hollenack; and sisters, Carole (Don) Weakland and MaryRita (Denny) Schafer.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Visitation of Mary Church, 87 Broad Street, Akron, Ohio 44305 with Fr. Jonathan Zingales officiating.  Family and friends may call on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Florence’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, Virginia 22215.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
