Ed Curley, 92, of Green passed away July 6, 2018. He was born October 23, 1925 in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Edward and Marie Curley. Ed was a 1943 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, served with the 138th Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe during WWII, and graduated Cum Laude in 1952 from the University of Akron. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Engineering Honorary Sigma Tau, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Ed worked at the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company for 44 years on engineering projects in Akron as well as other Firestone plants throughout the United States and Canada.
Ed was a kind, considerate and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his life and he was the world to them as well. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn Joan. He is survived by his son, Ed, Jr.; daughter, Lisa (Adam) Wirtenberger; grandchildren, Jake and Jamie; and great-granddaughter, Hayley.
Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Fr. Kawalec officiating. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery.
