Harold “Pop” Sloan, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family who will miss him dearly. He was born September 4, 1931 in Albany, Kentucky to the late James and Montie Sloan. Harold was a Godly man and a prayer warrior for all to come to know Christ.
Along with his parents, Harold will be reunited with Shirley “Pone”, the love of his life and wife of 51 years; sons, Harold and Mark Sloan; his savior Jesus Christ; brothers, Osco, Andrew, Billie, and Bruce Sloan; sisters, Betty Willen, Mildred Wright and Sue Lee Burton. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Bobby (Thelma) Sloan; sister, Jane Davis; sister-in-law, Myra Sloan; brother-in-law, Jake Jones; sons, Billie (Nancy) Sloan and James (Amy) Sloan; daughters, Sandra (Bryan) White, Robin (Michael) Bisesi; grandchildren, Brock Sloan, Billie Sloan, Shirley (Jason) Oberdier, Jeanette (Noah) Finch, Sydney Sloan, James Sloan, Kasey (Joe) Doney, Bryan (Sarah) White, Amanda (Zack) Young, Terra (Rody) Reno, Julia (Jonathan) Martin, and Matthew Bisesi; great-grandchildren, Palmer Oberdier, EmmaLynn and Liliana Finch, Nevaeh, Sylvia and Levi Doney, Bryan, Jordyn, and Blake White, Skylar, Maverick, Shaelee, and Hazel Young, Bryce Reno, Stella Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Harold was also survived by Deloris, loving wife of 10 years; her daughter, Brenda (Rick) Reichert; and her grandchildren, Erin and Eric.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44306 with Rev. Robert Stephens officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday 3 to 7 P.M. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 (SR 619). Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
