Donald E. Harbaugh

Don Harbaugh, 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 28, 2018.  He was born May 28, 1936 in Clinton, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Vivian Harbaugh.  Don was a graduate of Northwest High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Babcock & Wilcox.  He was an avid race car fan, which extended into his own hobby of drag racing for more than 50 years.  His “Altered Minds” car was driven by both himself and his son, Richard, most recently at Dragway 42. 

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sharon.  He will be greatly missed by his surviving children, Rick (Kathy), Jerry (Lana), Jill (Craig), Randi and Janese (Tony); grandchildren, Monica (Matthew) Valli, Amy Garner, Kisha Harbaugh, Jeremy Harbaugh, Shannon (Nate) Norris, Samantha (Brett) Massey, Savannah Dean, Joey Tupta, Alexis Tupta, and Jack Tupta; great-grandchildren, Loren, Henry, Kayla, Toby, Caidy, Blake, Easton, Aiden, Khloe, Aireonna, Chase, and Chance; as well as his Saturday morning breakfast buddies.  

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Jim Gindlesberger officiating.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
