Betty Jane (Messner) Glass

Betty Glass, 91, of Akron passed away May 18, 2017.  She was born December 7, 1925 in Akron to the late Glenn “Bo” and Hazel Messner.  Betty worked at Peoples Hospital in the kitchen until her marriage to Paul Glass and became a housewife and raised their 3 children.

Betty enjoyed walking to the ACME for groceries, Bingo, playing cards with friends and tending to her yard; but most of all she enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers.   

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Glass; son, Duane Glass; sisters, Doris Messner and Norma Waller; and brothers, Stan and Gilbert Messner.  She is survived by her son, Rick (Linda) Glass; daughter, Linda (Timothy) Smith; daughter-in-law, Susan Glass; grandchildren, Richard (Michele) Glass, Brian (Amy) Glass; Michelle Glass, Duane, Jr. (Michele) Glass, Rebecca (Christopher) Dimeff, Timothy, Jr. (Heather) Smith, Kathleen Smith and Sarah (Kevin) Regan; great-grandchildren, Noah, Kelsie, Grace, Ally and Lauren Glass, Ashley (Brad) Eplin, Darren, Andrew, Scarlet and Callen Dimeff, Brandon, Logan and Carter Smith, Christian, Savannah and Nathan Regan and Peyton Batley; great-great-grandchildren, Blake and Jackson Eplin; sister, Glenna Hurd; as well as many other loving family and friends.    

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Cecil Farmer officiating.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, C/O Akron General Foundation, 400 Wabash Ave, Akron, Ohio 44307-2463.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
