Betty Jean (Taylor) Alcorn

Betty Alcorn, 78, passed away March 2, 2018.  She was born October 11, 1939 in New Matamoras, OH to the late Howard and Ethel Taylor. Betty was a Jackson High graduate and a long-time resident of Green. Her faith in Jesus, hard work ethic and devotion to family were the foundation of the wonderful life she built with her husband Roger of 52 years. Raising her children and caring for her grandchildren brought an immense joy to her life. Betty was an extraordinary cook, an exceptional gardener, and a skilled crafter. As a member of The Chapel she volunteered in the nursery for decades. She was loved by all and touched many lives through her care and compassion.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Roger Alcorn; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  She is survived by her loving children, Lynda (Michael) Barath; Tom Alcorn and Amy (Tom) Fulton; grandchildren, Alyssa (Brandon), Shawn, Katrina (Louis), Denise, Jaime, Lucas, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Owen, Jameson and Adelynne; brother, Kenneth (Hazel) Taylor; sisters, Donna (Bob) Shane and Sue Taylor; as well as many other family and friends.  

Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Steve Bucy officiating.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
