Annabelle Lee (Long) Fatheree

Annabelle Fatheree, 85, went home to our Heavenly Father on October 1, 2018. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on October 21, 1932 to the late Roland and Grace Long. Annabelle had the most gracious and welcoming temperament. She always had an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on, and always a hug to wrap you in love and comfort. She was an active member in her church and had been saved since she was 25 years old. Annabelle had the most incredible, rock-like strength, and she always gave credit to her Lord & Savior, Jesus, for that amazing gift.

Annabelle met the love of her life, Donald, and they wed on July 12, 1950. Their marriage lasted over 66 years, until Donald passed away January 2, 2017. Their love and dedication were an inspiration to all who knew them. Annabelle was the glue that held everything together and she will be greatly missed. Her huge family gathering over the years created wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. Her cooking was legendary. Nobody could bake a cake or serve chicken and dumplings like Annabelle. And if you happened to sneak up on her in the kitchen, you might have heard her singing in that angelic soprano voice she had. Her beautiful voice could reach the heights. She sang for many, many years in her church choir, and ladies ensemble. She loved her Savior, and when she sang, she sang for Him, and it showed. She will be remembered for all of this, and so much more. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and was so very cherished and important to all of us. We have lost a truly beautiful woman- but God has gained a saint. One day, we will be reunited with her, when we cross that finish line. Annabelle ran a good race, and now rests comfortably in the arms of our Lord.

Besides her parents and husband, Annabelle was preceded in death by her son, Mark; sister, Helen Drummond and brother-in-law James (Melba) Fatheree.  She is survived by her children, Don Jr. (Kandy) Fatheree, Pamela Dain and David (Christine) Fatheree; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lisa Fatheree; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Mike Hirschfelt officiating.  Family and friends may call on Sunday from 12 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  A private family interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Annabelle’s name to East Liberty Church of the Nazarene, 700 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.
