Bonnie Maple, 94, passed away on April 10, 2024, at the Western Reserve Masonic Community. She was born on March 8, 1930, to the late Ernest and Nellie Shaffer in Harlan, West Virginia. Living in West Virginia is where she grew to love the mountains.
Bonnie’s family was the center of her life and she took great pride in being a fine homemaker. She loved to travel and later in life helped plan retiree travels throughout the States and Europe.
Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Maple, Sr.; brother, Ronald Shaffer and sisters, Twila Hughes and Doris McClellan. She is survived by her loving children, Pamela (Joseph) Drummond, Harold “Bud” Maple, Jr. and Danny (Toni) Maple; grandchildren, Lisa Evans, Michelle Parisi, Haley Maple-Ewusiak, Jessica Maple, Jonathan Maple, and Awyn Maple; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Cam Evans, Emma, Isabelle and Aiden Parisi, Logan Dempsey, Owen and Aubrey Pownall; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family funeral service will be held at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. The entombment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Road, Akron, Ohio 44320. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bonnie’s name to your church or the charity of your choice.
