Elizabeth “Beth” Bernice Stadvec

Elizabeth “Beth” Bernice Stadvec, 78, of Akron and Naples, FL, went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2013 with her loving family at her bedside.   Elizabeth was born September 11, 1934 to the late Harlan and Marjorie (Moore) Finzer, in New Philadelphia, Ohio.   She was a 1952 graduate of Coventry High School, Vice President and General Manager of Shawnee Airways, and subsidiary companies Essco Aircraft, and Aerodynamics, at the Wayne County Airport.  She supervised scheduled and non-scheduled Air Charter passenger and freight operations, civilian, Air Force and Army ROTC flight training for the University of Akron and Kent State University.   She was a Charter Member of the Community Church of Portage Lakes, President of the Women's Aeronautic Association, Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association, Northeast Ohio Pilot's Association, Military Officer's Organization of America with husband Ernest.   She also was a member of Prestwick Country Club, Turkeyfoot Island Club as well as the Akron Women's City Club.  She was even Mayor of Akron for a day.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother and wife.  Her beauty and charm was always evident, but her soul, character and thoughtfulness were her gift to many. She was always there with hugs and laughter.  She loved playing euchre and she made friends wherever she went and will be equally missed by her friends in Akron as well as in Naples.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 52 years Ernest Stadvec; daughter Marjorie; sons George, Dan (Norma), Steve and Michael (Franca); grandchildren Aimee, Adam, Jordan, Morgan, Alyssa, Emily, Arabella and Lucas; great grandson Nathan; sister Kay (Bob) Olenick; brother Harlan Finzer, Jr.

The family wishes to thank Pastor John Thielenhaus for his comforting words and the staff at the Summa Palliative Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd, Akron, OH 44319 (SR 619) with Pastor John Thielenhaus officiating.  There will be no visitation prior.  Interment will take place at the Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek, Ohio.  Memorial contributions can be made in Elizabeth’s name to American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.

So sorry to read of the death of your wife and mother. Although we only met Beth a few times at neighborhood gatherings, we always enjoyed her company. What an accomplished lady she was. You must be so proud of the life she lead. Our thoughts are with you.

To the entire Stadvec and Finzer families and friends, I'd like to extend my
sincerest sympathies to you in the loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother.
I graduated from high school with Beth and knew her to be a very kind and
gentle person. May God bless and be with you during this trying time.

Words cannot express the sadness in my heart at the passing of Aunt Beth. I will always remember spending time with her when she came to Arizona to visit. One of my favorite memories of Aunt Beth is when she took me to see "Three Men and a Little Lady" and then we had ice cream together.
May she rest in peace and her family have comfort in her passing.

Ernie! So sorry to hear about Elizabeth. A long struggle is a hard thing to go through. Hope you are doing ok. My computer was on the fritz until we got it cleaned up and back yesterday. Have been thinking about you and you family. Ginger and I leave for St Pete Beach tomorrow. See you at the gym in the spring.
Stay and be well.

I was so sad to hear of the death of Beth. I can vividly visualize her behind the counter at Shawnee Airways, promoting flight lessons and penny-a-pound airplane rides. Seems like only yesterday. We're so sorry for your loss.
