Rose "Toots" (Hornak) Osborne

Toots Osborne, 73, of New Franklin passed away peacefully, July 12, 2017, at home surrounded by family and dear friends. She was born July 22, 1944 to the late Alex and Mary Hornak in Akron where she grew up in Firestone Park and then later settling in New Franklin.  Toots had no greater love than family and was truly dedicated to caring for her son Rick, her husband Ron, and her parents prior to their passing.  She described her meticulous care for her family and home as “therapy”.  She was also the special family member who never, ever missed birthdays and cherished holiday gatherings with many extended relatives.

She had many special friends that shared her love of classic cars during cruise-ins. She was a lifelong follower of NHRA drag racing. She and Ron enjoyed trips to Norwalk and Charlotte for many NHRA events. Toots was a friend to nearly everyone that crossed her path. She was selfless in never missing an opportunity to help someone.  

Besides her parents, Toots was preceded in death by her brother, Alex.  She leaves behind to cherish the memories, her loving husband, of 49 years, Ron Osborne; son, Rick (Jodi) Osborne; brother, Ernie Hornak (Lea Jackson); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Jim Szakmeister officiating.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. also for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Toot’s name to Stewart’s Caring Place, 2955 W.
