Lois M. (Gill) Kapper

Lois Kapper, 81, passed in peace Saturday, October 7, 2017.  She was born December 14, 1935 in Akron to the late Michael and Viola Gill.  Lois graduated from St. Mary’s in 1953.  She worked in the early 1970s for the Summit County Fiscal Office where she managed the Homestead exemption office.  Lois then worked for Ohio Edison where she retired in 1994.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers, Micky Gill and David Gill.  Lois was a devoted wife to Richard for 60 years, loving mother to Kathleen (David) Buzek, Richard (Dana) Kapper, Diane Verot, Keith (Terri) Kapper, and Paul (Kelly) Kapper; proud grandmother to Nicholas, Adam, Matthew, Megan (Alex), Madison, KaraNina (Blake), Brooklyn, Sophia, Monique (Thomas), Kyle, Drew, Ali, Martha, Brady, Kelsey (Michael), Joshua, Cassidy and Zachary; incredible great-grandmother to Kensington, Violet, Tyler, William, Aiden, Andrew, Joey, and Camryn.  Also surviving are sister, Joan Baird; brothers, Robert (Athena) Gill, Patrick Gill; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Lois measured success in life through the happiness of her family.  She taught her children to be independent, strong of will, and an advocate for the disillusioned.  She spent her life dedicated to her family and friends.  She was the hallway light during the storm, the conversation around the table, the reassuring voice on the other end of the phone, the foundation of the Kapper home, the Rock.  After a lifetime spent taking care of those around her, we celebrate Lois resting peacefully in God’s kingdom.   

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
