Julie A. (Cochrum) Shaffer

Julie A. Shaffer, 49, of Green, OH, fought courageously against breast cancer and went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2016, while surrounded by her family.  Julie was a 1985 graduate of Lake High School.  She loved her work as an aide on the bus and on the playground at Green Local Schools.  Blessings in a Backpack was an important foundation that she donated time to on a regular basis.  Julie found joy in taking care of others and always opened her home to family and friends.  She was a member of Aqua Power Boat Club and enjoyed time with her friends on Berlin Lake.  We are all grateful to have spent time with her here on Earth.  We look forward to meeting her in heaven one day and hearing her infectious laugh again.

Julie’s greatest treasure is her daughter, Tiffany Shaffer, soon to be a special education teacher, studying at Bowling Green State University.  She leaves behind her beloved soul mate of 19 years, Joe Collier.  She is also survived by her loving parents, Dale and Sheryle Cochrum.  She loved traveling and spending time with her sisters and their families, Lori (Jeff) Tucker, Zachary and Caden; Amy (Drew) Bahry, Carson and Camryn.  She leaves behind Diana (Gary) Props, her precious aunt who was like a sister to her.

Funeral service will be held at NOON on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. and Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Blessings in a Backpack, PO Box 218, Green, OH 44232.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
