Herbert G. Russell

Herbert G. Russell, 78, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2018.  Herb was born in Akron to the late Herbert and Geraldine Russell but grew up in Portage Lakes.  He graduated from Coventry High School, attended The Ohio State University and served his country in the U.S. Army. Herb retired from Coventry Township Fire Department where he served as a fire fighter and paramedic. After retirement, Herb and Linda moved to their paradise on Pine Island, Florida where he enjoyed boating, fishing, listening to live music, weekly card games with dear friends and dancing. Herb lost his loving wife, Linda, after 46 years of marriage but was lucky enough to find his second love, Joanna.
 

Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; sister, Harriette; and loving companion, Joanna Bowles. He is survived by his children, Herbert (Conni) and Christine (Rick); grandchildren, Mitchell, Nicholas, Morgan, Caitlin, Abby and Ricky; nephew, Steve (Judy); as well as many cousins and friends.
 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E.
