Frank J. Gregor, “Franjo”, 88, peacefully fell asleep into God’s loving arms on January 3, 2017.  He was born in Spangler, PA to the late Andrew and Julia Gregor, and was raised in Vintondale, PA where he graduated from Vintondale High School.  He entered into the Marine Corp during the WWII conflict; and at the age of 18, the Marine Corp recognized him as a “high expert” rifleman on the firing range, hitting 316 bull’s-eyes out of 340.  After serving his country he moved to the Akron area and began working for his brother, Andrew, at his service station in Kenmore.  He also worked for his brother, Vic, who was a drywall contractor.  He began attending night classes at the University of Akron with studies in the field of industry.  He soon realized business administration was what he truly wanted.  He began working for National Life and Accident Insurance Co. (American General) and became Vice President of their Mid-American Region.  He retired after 25 years of service.  After retirement he continued working in insurance and real estate.  Frank was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, walks through the park, and he never let you forget he was proud to be a Marine.

Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew, John, Vic, and Larry; and former wife, Mary Louise.  He is survived by his loving wife, Holly; his sister, Amelia J. Sileck; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
