Edwin R. Finical

Edwin Finical, 91, of New Franklin, passed away on December 15, 2017.  Ed was born in Cadiz, Ohio on August 6, 1926 to the late Ross and Hazel Finical.

Ed was a star athlete in high school and college and he played minor league baseball. In later years he became a good golfer and was always an avid sports fan. He loved to travel and especially loved walking the Florida beaches. Ed volunteered with his wife at Akron General Hospital, where he served as a patient advocate, and also volunteered with Goodyear retirees.  He was a graduate of Cadiz High and Wittenberg University. Ed was a member of Lockwood Church, the Gideons, and the Goodyear Blue & Gold Club. He retired from Goodyear Tire after 37 years as a shift foreman. Ed served in the US Navy in WWII.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann and Mary Finical.  He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Maxine; children, Paula (Dave) Ball, Steve (Alison) Finical; grandchildren, Andrew (Heather) Denchik, Angela (Chris) Prueter, Patrick Finical and Stephanie (Ben) Adams; 5 great-grandchildren; and many loving friends.

Funeral service will be held at 4 P.M. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd, Akron, OH 44319 (SR 619) with Steve Finical officiating.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
