Donald Dean Thompson, Sr.

Don Thompson, 86, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2017.  He was born June 24, 1931 in Camden, West Virginia to the late Guy, Sr. and Sarah Thompson.  Don retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber, with 39 years of service as a tire mold finisher and Barron & Benson after many years.  Don was a proud member and volunteer of Green AARP and Green Good Neighbors at the Greensburg United Methodist Church.    

Don leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Ethel, and their children, Don Jr. (Deb), Pandie (Bob), Tim, Dwayne (Lisa); niece, Barb Ochs; grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Donald D. (Anna) Thompson, III, Nicholas (Shelley) Thompson, Kristen (Moe) Banks, Tiffany Tawney, T. Lee Thompson, Jr., Brittany Thompson, Blair Thompson, Bryce Thompson, and Blake Thompson; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.  

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Josh Lough officiating.  Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
