Don Fatheree, Sr., 84, passed away January 2, 2017.  He was born in Canton on September 12, 1932 to the late James and Pauline Fatheree.  Over the course of 84 years, Don had many titles: Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Coach, and Great-Grandfather – the list is long.  He was known by so many people by so many roles.  He was a loving husband, supportive dad, caring neighbor, faithful Christian, enthusiastic coach, competitive athlete, avid hunter and fisherman, wise grandpa, fun sports fan, engaging conversationalist, and on and on…

Above all, to every person who knew him, loved him, and had the privilege of being in his life, Don was a LOYAL FRIEND.  He always had the time to bend your ear, or lend a shoulder to cry on.  If something needed fixed, he was the man for the job.  If feeling uncertain, he would boost your confidence.  Making a mistake?  He would lovingly let you know.  He had a quiet authority about him, tempered by his gentle heart.  Loyal and loving, Don will be terribly missed by ALL whose lives he touched.  The faith Don displayed in his love for Jesus encourages us who mourn, that yes, we WILL reunite again someday.  Until that day, we could all stand to live like he did – faithful and loyal to the end.

Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by son, Mark and brother, James (Melva) Fatheree.  He is survived by his loving wife, of 66 years, Annabelle; sons, Don (Kandi) and David (Christine) Fatheree; daughter, Pamela Dain; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Fatheree.

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on January 9, 2017 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Michael Hirschfelt officiating.  Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 4 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.  To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
