Daniel Kovach

Daniel Kovach, 91, went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2017.  He was born May 6, 1926 in Akron to the late Joseph and Anna Kovach.  Daniel was in the U.S. Navy and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters and worked at BF Goodrich for over 40 years in the belt department.  He was the longest living member of Grace Baptist Church (his second family), serving as music leader, deacon, usher, and choir member as long as he was able.  Daniel enjoyed bowling, fishing and was an avid sports fan, but most of all he enjoyed taking care of his family.  He adored his grandchildren and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, of 66 years, Emma “Imy” Kovach; son, Daniel Joseph; and sisters, Susie Chula, Anna Hohmann, Irene Bennage and Kate Vadnal.  He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Cain and Rebecca (Mark) Lancaster; grandchildren, Matt (Bindy) Lancaster, Michael (Andrea) Lancaster, Mark (Paula) Lancaster, Jr., Melinda (Jason) Caldwell, Rick (Leah) Conner, Todd Cain and Marieta (Adam) Clark; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.    

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44306 with Pastor Phil Hulgin officiating.  Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319.  Interment will be at Mt.
