Betty C. (Carter) Watson

Betty Watson, 92, of Green passed away after an extended period of declining health, on February 8, 2017. Betty was born in Adena, Ohio and was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Olive Carter; stepfather, Lou West; daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Watson and the love of her life, husband, Harold O. Watson, to whom she was married for 72 years; and before marriage they had been an item since the 8th grade.

During WW11 she relocated to Akron while Harold served in the Army and fought in the European Theater until the end of the war. Betty attended Hamel Business College while Harold was in the service and upon graduation took a job at Summit Wholesale Foods, moved on to Borden’s Dairy and lastly, joined Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in the Marketing Department. Betty retired from Firestone in the position of Corporate Librarian for Firestone and the Firestone Family Library with 30 years of service. Betty loved to cook, bake and anything family. During her retirement years, she served as the family air traffic controller maintaining accurate data on all family movements at all times.

Betty is survived by her son, Mark A. Watson; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Ralph Wood; special nieces, Jayme Osborn and Lisa Arlidge; grandchildren, Scott (Lisa), Todd (Rachel) and Brett Watson, Erin and Claude Eldaye; great-grandchildren, Janessa, Gabriel and Meghan Eldaye, Carly Watson, Dalton Watson, Ashley, Olivia, Malory and Andrew Ferrell; great-great-grandchild, Raelyn Watson, plus  many relatives and friends.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be a private funeral and interment.
