Barry Mahoney, 77, of Portage Lakes passed away February 14, 2018. He was born June 24, 1940 in Cleveland to the late Robert and Virginia Mahoney. Barry was retired from Republic/LTV Steel. Barry was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan, supporting the Indians and Browns, even purchasing his season ticket seats from the old Municipal Stadium. His hobby included trains; either configuring model trains in his home or travelling across the country on Amtrak. When not traveling by train, Barry travelled by RV, strategically planning stops to see his boys out west.
Barry is survived by his sons, Dale (Jan Skurzynski), Keith (Shanan), and Jeff Mahoney; sister, Cherla Parsons; grandchildren, Jacob and Megan; nephew, Greg Parsons; as well as many other family and friends, especially those at the Upper Deck.
Per Barry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 (SR 619). Family and friends may call from 4 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
